Former President Joe Biden was furious after House Republicans successfully impeached Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Tuesday, accusing the party of “petty political games.”
As Breitbart News reported, House Republicans impeached Mayorkas by a narrow 214-213 vote on Tuesday, making him the first Cabinet member to be impeached since William Belknap in 1876.
“Secretary Mayorkas’ willful refusal to enforce federal law has created an unprecedented crisis at our southern border and left innocent Americans paying the price,” said Majority Whip Tom Emmer. (R-Minnesota) told Breitbart News in an exclusive statement. “Because Mr. Mayorkas failed to do the honorable job of resigning, House Republicans fulfilled their constitutional duty by voting for impeachment.”

After the vote, Joe Biden said, “History will not look kindly on House Republicans’ blatant act of unconstitutional partisanship.”
“Secretary of Homeland Security Mayorkas, a Cuban immigrant who came to the United States with his family as a political refugee, has served the United States with integrity for more than 20 years during an illustrious career in law enforcement and public service.” “From his time at the Department of Justice as a U.S. Attorney to his time as Deputy Attorney General and now as Secretary of Homeland Security, he has demonstrated a staunch upholding of the rule of law and a deep commitment to the values that make our country great. I have shown.”
House Republicans last week failed to impeach Mayorkas by a vote of 216-214. Although it passed the House this week, the U.S. Senate is unlikely to convict him.
“Congress needs to act to give me, Secretary Mayorkas, and my administration the tools and resources we need to address the situation at the border,” Biden fumed. “The House must also immediately pass the Senate’s national security supplement. We will continue to pursue real solutions to the challenges facing the American people, but House Republicans will continue to pursue real solutions to the challenges facing Americans. They must decide whether to join them or continue with border politics.”
