President Joe Biden sought to woo voters from former presidential candidate Nikki Haley, who refused to endorse former President Donald Trump.
Biden’s tactic is to divide the Republican Party by revealing her refusal to support Trump after Haley withdrew from the race.
“Donald Trump has made it clear that he does not want Nikki Haley supporters. Let me be clear: There is a place for them in my campaign,” Biden said in a statement Wednesday. Ta. “I know there are many things we disagree on.”
Mr. Biden cited talking points spun by the Democratic Party as a basis for Hailey voters’ support for Mr. Biden.
But on the fundamental issues of preserving American democracy, upholding the rule of law, treating each other with civility, dignity and respect, preserving NATO and confronting America’s adversaries, I I hope and believe that we can find common ground.
A Super Tuesday CNN exit poll of Republican voters in North Carolina found that 83% of the majority supporting Biden supported Haley.
Haley withdrew from the race Wednesday morning and offered her congratulations to the former president. “Donald Trump will probably be the Republican nominee at the convention in July,” she said gently. “I congratulate him and wish him the best.”
“It’s now up to Donald Trump to win the votes not only within our party, but also those outside our party who didn’t support him,” she said.
Haley’s relationship with Trump remains controversial.

Haley accepted donations from Democrats, including Democratic billionaire donor and LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman. More than 75 percent of the funds she raised during her campaign came from a major donor, Open Her Secret. I figured it out.
“At this point, I hope she stays in the race and fights to the end…And I would also like to invite all Haley supporters to join us in the largest movement in the history of this country. I think so,” Trump wrote.
“Biden is the enemy and is destroying our country. Make America great again!!!” he concluded.
