Joe Rogan claims McGregor injured his ACL with a 'wild' jumping roundhouse kick.

Behind the Scenes: Trump and Dana White Prep for Iconic UFC Walkout

Will Kane has shared some unseen footage from a Fox Nation documentary titled “UFC Fight House: The Making of the Greatest Fight of All Time.” This exclusive material reveals President Donald Trump and UFC CEO Dana White as they methodically prepare for a notable walkout at the White House. The footage showcases the unique planning and detailed efforts that went into this historic moment.

Conor McGregor found himself in a shocking situation during his return to the Octagon after five years, facing Max Holloway at UFC 329 on Saturday night. It was, well, not the homecoming he envisioned.

Joe Rogan commented on a particularly audacious move McGregor attempted early in the fight, suggesting it might have been the cause of his downfall. “He tried a crazy move—a jumping roundhouse kick,” Rogan noted during the UFC broadcast. “If you don’t land well, you’re stressing your knees. He landed awkwardly.” Ouch.

McGregor, right after attempting that kick, appeared to be in pain, clutching his knee as Holloway dodged the strike. Although he tried to continue, referee Mike Beltran stopped the fight after McGregor’s next kick also missed its mark.

Logan weighed in, saying, “He likely destroyed his anterior cruciate ligament on that first move. It’s unfortunate, but you just don’t make those moves.” This kind of disappointment is tough to swallow for anyone.

McGregor’s Disheartening Return

After consulting with medical professionals, UFC President Dana White confirmed that McGregor had indeed torn his ACL, although further scans will be necessary for a complete assessment.

Daniel Cormier, a former MMA fighter turned broadcaster, suggested McGregor’s long absence from the sport might have played a role in his injury. “After being away for a while, returning can feel overwhelming,” Cormier explained. “You may find yourself doing things that don’t quite make sense after such a break.” It really can feel like you’re trying to pick up where you left off, only to realize it’s not that simple.

Following the fight’s stoppage, McGregor expressed his disappointment on social media. This was his first outing since July 2021, and understandably, he was feeling the weight of the moment. “My head gasket is gone. Destroyed,” he posted. “I wasn’t hurt prior to this. I was throwing kicks and feeling good. This just came out of nowhere. It’s honestly dark here.” Such raw honesty; it’s hard not to feel for him.

Rogan mentioned that perhaps McGregor was trying to showcase bravery with that signature kick using his surgically repaired leg, but, sadly, it backfired. The TKO decision at UFC 329 now leaves McGregor with a record of 22 wins and 7 losses.
