Scarborough Urges Democrats to Distance Themselves from Radical Socialists

On his show, Joe Scarborough from MS NOW called on Democrats to publicly reject the socialist elements within their party. He warned that if they fail to clearly define their platform, “Donald Trump will definitely define it in November!”

Scarborough stated, “If the Democratic Party truly aims to make America more affordable, fairer, and freer, it needs to acknowledge the more extreme elements within its base. Otherwise, those radicals may push more voters toward Trump.” This discussion took place during an episode of “Morning Joe.”

“Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, and the rest of the Democrats in Washington are missing the point. If you can’t define your party now, Trump will surely do it come November!” he stressed.

His strong remarks followed a moment where Fox News host Shannon Beam expressed disbelief over a video featuring Megan Romer, co-chair of the Democratic Socialist Party of America. In it, Romer confidently answered “Yes!” to a series of provocative proposals, including abolishing the Senate and defunding the Pentagon.

Scarborough replayed the segment and remarked, “Democrats, Democrats, Democrats.” Quoting Maya Angelou, he added that when someone shows their true colors, you should believe them. He emphasized that Romer’s appearance on TV revealed what the Democratic Socialists stand for.

“Her responses were assertive, yet these views disqualify the party from truly addressing critical issues like healthcare and tax reform,” Scarborough commented.

The former Republican official from Clinton’s administration acknowledged there’s a place for discussion within the party but emphasized there’s a clear distinction between advocating for improvement and abandoning core values. He praised the Democratic Party for resisting the turmoil of January 6, 2021, and standing up against violence against Americans and immigrants.

Scarborough also recognized past Democratic leaders like John F. Kennedy for protecting freedoms and Lyndon B. Johnson for his civil rights efforts. He lauded Clinton for balanced budgets and Obama for the Affordable Care Act, while noting Biden’s resistance to anti-democratic forces.

Yet, he insisted that a party committed to democracy must openly criticize those advocating for drastic measures, such as dismantling the Senate or releasing violent criminals. He criticized proposals that would jeopardize national safety, stating, “How can a party be serious about America while advocating for the removal of police from schools and neighborhoods?”

Ultimately, Scarborough asserted that Democrats have always aimed for a better union without undermining the country they love. “We can push for change without wanting to destroy it,” he concluded.
