Joe Scarborough compares Kamala Harris to ‘Rocky Balboa’ – forgetting he lost in first movie

MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough on Monday praised Vice President Kamala Harris’ chances of winning the White House, likening her to Rocky Balboa, forgetting that Sylvester Stallone’s fictional character was defeated by Apollo Creed in the first movie.

Scarborough, whose left-leaning show was pulled from the air last Monday following the assassination attempt on President Donald Trump and the day after an elderly President Joe Biden withdrew from the presidential race, delved into the false parallels to the 1976 Oscar-winning film “Rocky.”

Referring to Balboa’s left-handed fighting style, Scarborough blasted him, saying, “Trump was used to fighting Biden. What has he done? He’s changed his tack. Now he’s a southpaw. Rocky is a southpaw.”

“Any kids who were scared this morning, go watch ‘Rocky’ again,” Scarborough said.

But what kids and adults alike get to see is a brave but bloody Stallone battling Carl Weathers’ Creed to the death, losing by split decision.

But that didn’t stop Scarborough from solidifying his support for the Democratic Party’s top candidates.

“Let’s be honest with you, Republicans are panicking,” Scarborough said. “We’ve been hearing for some time from inside the Trump campaign that the only thing Donald Trump is afraid of is not having Joe Biden.”

He claimed controversial former President Donald Trump and Republican leaders were “furious” over the change in nominee.

“But the fact that they’re panicking to this extent should galvanize the Democratic Party, which is at the lowest point I’ve seen any party since Watergate,” Scarborough said.

Scarborough and his wife, co-host Mika Brzezinski, have previously spoken out in support of Biden and are now calling on Democrats to show broad support for Harris.

Some leaders, including Bill and Hillary Clinton, almost immediately issued statements endorsing Harris after Biden withdrew.

“We are honored to join the President in endorsing Vice President Harris and will do whatever it takes to support her,” the Clintons said in a joint statement Sunday.

Meanwhile, former President Barack Obama withheld his endorsement, instead issuing a statement saying he was confident Democrats would select a “high-quality candidate.”

Both President Obama and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have appeared to support an “open” process for finding a new Democratic candidate to replace Biden.

“We are going to be navigating uncharted territory,” President Obama said.
