Many young Christian men have heard the advice: “find a wife in church.” However, Blaze TV host John Doyle argues that this saying is somewhat shallow.
He suggests that this advice is simply a comforting response to the modern dating landscape dominated by apps. Doyle commented on “The John Doyle Show,” stating that people claim church is where good women can be found, acting as a counter to contemporary dating culture.
He contends that the evolving views on gender equality imply that many women may not prioritize family life as traditionally expected, and increasingly, fewer women aspire to build families.
Doyle expresses concern that many conservatives make excuses on behalf of women. According to him, some conservatives argue that if society would just stop misleading women, they would find happiness.
He elaborates, saying the discourse surrounding this issue places women on a pedestal, suggesting they lack agency and accountability. Doyle feels this narrative implies that societal pressures are solely responsible for poor choices made by women.
“I’m not fixated on Christian women specifically. There are plenty of wonderful Christian women out there,” he noted. Yet, he believes the advice being offered to young men in online discussions is unproductive.
Doyle acknowledges the appeal of turning to church for potential partners. “I understand why people consider it the best option—it seems like a safer route.” But, he raises concerns about churches led by progressive figures that may not attract traditional women.
“Sure, many conservative women attend church, but it’s naïve to think that all, or even most, of the women there are genuinely conservative,” he asserts.
He concludes that merely attending church doesn’t necessarily reflect someone’s values or beliefs and describes the notion as merely an Instagram meme.
