Jon Voight Criticizes New York City’s New Mayor
Jon Voight recently expressed serious concerns about the political direction of New York City. In a video message released this week, the Oscar-winning actor claimed that incoming Mayor Zoran Mamdani threatens the future of the city, asserting that only former President Donald Trump can intervene to “stop this horror.”
In the video shared on X, Voight warned that Mamdani would “destroy the city that never sleeps” and suggested that it could transform into a place filled with “forbidden darkness.” He emphatically stated, “This mayor will destroy this city.”
Voight urged New Yorkers to defend their rights concerning private sanctuaries, businesses, and property, all of which he felt they had worked hard to earn. He criticized the 35-year-old mayor for imposing what he described as socialist rule on a city built by dedicated Americans. He insisted that this “must stop,” calling for Mamdani’s mayorship to be terminated immediately.
He expressed a sense of urgency, urging residents to resist what he characterized as a threat to the city’s fundamental values. Voight’s statements reflect a passionate belief that the citizens of New York are on the brink of losing their city to “this communist fool,” emphasizing the importance of upholding the values represented by the American flag and the concept of freedom and justice for all.
Voight proclaimed, “This country, the United States of America, is the land of our greatest achievement: the American Dream,” before reiterating his faith in Trump. He expressed strong feelings about Mamdani’s management, stating, “Mayor Mamdani is destroying New York’s wealth and turning it into a socialist city, and only he can stop this horror.”
Concluding his message, Voight issued a warning to the public, saying, “Let this be a warning to the people, and God bless you.” Fox News Digital has attempted to reach out to both Voight and Mamdani for their takes on the matter.
Mamdani won the New York mayoral election on November 4, defeating both independent candidate Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa.
Voight’s remarks have drawn reactions from various celebrities and political commentators regarding the changing political landscape of New York City.
For instance, Cynthia Nixon, known for her role in *Sex and the City* and a former gubernatorial candidate, previously celebrated Mamdani’s victory on social media, sharing a photo together and proclaiming her admiration for him.
Actor Michael Rapaport also criticized Mamdani online for dining at an expensive restaurant while residing in a rent-stabilized apartment, showcasing differing opinions about the new mayor’s lifestyle.
