Joni Ernst Proposes to Sell Millions of Dollars of IRS Firearms to Pay Off National Debt

Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) introduced a law Monday that would sell millions of dollars in Internal Revenue Service (IRS) firearms to pay government bonds.

As America approaches tax day on Tuesday, Ernst introduced the reasons why the IRS needs to reform the way they handle guns. The Iowa Senator introduced the law after reporting that the book was opened Proposed The IRS will become one of the top 50 largest police stations based on its personnel and firearms and ammunition stockpile.

“Why is the IRS wasting millions of taxes?” Ernst asked rhetorically in a written statement.

She continued. “This is especially concerning given the history of partisan witch hunts within government agencies and the fact that it is more common for IRS agents to fire weapons accidentally than they would intentionally.

“Since 2006, the IRS has spent $35.2 million on guns, ammunition and military-style equipment (CPI adjustments). 2020 and 2021 were peaking in the IRS to buy weapons and gear.

Since 2020, the IRS has spent at least $10 million on firearms and ammunition for around 2,100 special agents.

2021 Report from the Financial Inspector (TIGTA) for Tax Management I discovered it Special agents of the IRS Criminal Investigation Bureau fired weapons more by mistake than intentionally fired them.

Late March, Ernst announcement The major reform proposals to the IRS are labelled America’s “unliked government agencies.” This includes:

  1. Eliminate duplicate audits of all taxpayers and entities, including pass-throughs
  2. Keep all federal employees, especially IRS officials, to the same tax compliance standards as the average American
  3. Check EIN (Employer Identification Number) Online Application Tools to ensure they are always open to the public

“The IRS consistently acquires weapons against American citizens, targeted religious groups, journalists, gun owners and everyday Americans.” Rep. Barry Moore (R-Al), who introduced fellow House laws, said in writing.

Arming these agents makes the American public less secure. My law, why the IRS needs guns, disarm these agents, auction them off to federal firearm licensees, and sell ammunition to the public. The only thing an IRS agent needs to arm it is a computer. ”
