Ken Dilanian, a correspondent for MS NOW, has come under fire for comments suggesting that the assailant who injured two National Guardsmen near the White House was motivated by a “controversy” surrounding uniformed Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in urban areas.
During the broadcast on Wednesday afternoon, Dilanian, who covers justice and intelligence, weighed in on the shooting incident. He remarked, “There’s a lot of controversy going on in the United States right now about ICE, with people in uniform and masks. You may not realize it, but there are individuals in uniforms in American cities. Some people might find that objectionable, and so it seems this shooting occurred.” His perspective drew significant criticism.
The shooting, described by law enforcement as a targeted “ambush,” resulted in serious injuries to two National Guard members, one of whom was reportedly shot in the head.
Many on social media struggled to understand Dilanian’s viewpoint, seemingly downplaying the severity of such a brazen attack. One user posted, “Did you know that two people were murdered? Of course I did.”
Another user expressed frustration, stating, “Leave the blame to the victims to MS Fake News.” Comments continued to flood in, with one person calling Dilanian’s stance “an insane opinion” that defied argument and another lamenting the loss of life so close to the holiday season.
Following the incident, President Trump authorized the deployment of an additional 500 National Guard troops to Washington, D.C. The suspect involved was taken into custody but is reportedly uncooperative, and no motive has been revealed by authorities.
