Levitt Critiques Democrats’ Response to Trump’s State of the Union
White House press secretary Caroline Levitt accused Democrats of falling into a political “trap” set by President Trump during this week’s State of the Union address. She suggested that their response to recognizing crime victims revealed their genuine stance on immigration and public safety.
Levitt remarked on “Hannity” that Democrats, perhaps unwittingly, found themselves in a compromising position due to their inability to resist the political maneuvering.
“They really align themselves with the millions of illegal immigrants who have come through our borders while Biden has been in office. They’re also standing with habitual offenders who, in some cases, have been imprisoned numerous times,” she stated, referencing incidents like the one involving a North Carolina resident who tragically lost her life to a released criminal.
“They couldn’t even represent the heartbroken mother that President Trump was recognizing last night,” she added.
Levitt specifically mentioned young girls like Dalilah Coleman, who has suffered severe brain damage due to an accident caused by an undocumented truck driver.
This commentary followed a moment during Trump’s address when Democratic lawmakers largely chose not to stand or applaud as he acknowledged the few victims of crimes linked to illegal immigration.
Among those recognized was Anna Zarutska, the mother of Irina Zarutska, a victim of a train stabbing. Dalilah Coleman, at just seven years old, was highlighted for her injuries in a crash involving an undocumented driver.
President Trump also took time during his speech to honor Erica Kirk, the widow of Charlie Kirk, a late friend and co-founder of Turning Point USA.
Levitt labeled the Democratic response as “despicable,” while commending Trump’s strategy to put them in a difficult position in front of the nation, emphasizing that protecting American interests should take precedence over those of illegal immigrants. “It was his decision to incorporate this into the speech, and it worked,” she declared, asserting that it spotlighted a choice between reasonable policies championed by Trump and the radical approach of Democrats.
