The Murray State Racers football team isn't having a memorable season, but its struggles are summed up by an incredible touchdown surrendered to the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday.
The Wildcats have also been down this year, but they hosted the Racers on Saturday and the first touchdown of the game was what should have been an easy interception by Murray State.
Instead, it's remembered as one of college football's “did that just happen?” A moment in 2024.

On Kentucky's first drive of the game, quarterback Brock Vandagriff took a shot deep downfield to receiver Hadley Gilmore IV, who had space on the left side.
Vandagriff threw short after limping and it looked like it was destined to be an interception for Murray State. After the offense made an interception on the opening drive, the Racers' defense would have had the perfect response.

But Murray State senior defensive back Kavan Reed couldn't bring it in as the easy pick slipped through his hands.
To make matters worse, the ball ended up in the hands of Gilmore, who walked into the end zone and scored a touchdown like no other player had ever seen.

It was the first of many points as Kentucky State defeated Murray State, 48-6, improving to 4-6 on the year. The Racers lost 1-10.
Vandagriff breathed a sigh of relief when he saw the ball in Gilmore's hands. This was one of the two touchdowns he threw in the game. He completed 12 of 19 for 183 yards and one interception.

Jamarion Wilcox led the Wildcats' ground game, running for 123 yards on 13 carries, including a touchdown. Gilmore had two catches for 72 yards.
