California Clybank, the largest sperm bank in the United States, has revealed it is suffering from a data breaches that publish private details of its customers. The company has not yet disclosed donor information if it is violated for a violation.

Bleeding Computer Report California Cliobank, a full-service sperm bank that provides specialized reproductive services to all 50 states and over 30 countries around the world, announced it had experienced a data breaches after detecting suspicious activity on its network last year. The company quickly isolated the affected computers from the IT network to contain the incident.

According to the California Cryobank Data Breach Notice, unauthorized parties may access your IT environment and access and/or obtain files maintained on certain computer systems between April 20, 2024 and April 22, 2024. As a precaution, we conducted a comprehensive search and review of files that may have been violated during the incident.

A nearly year-long investigation revealed that the attack exposed various amounts of personal data belonging to California Clybank customers. The compromised information included name, bank account and routing number, social security number, driver's license number, payment card number, and/or health insurance information. In response to violations, California Cryobank offers a free one-year credit monitoring service to individuals with a public Social Security or driver's license number.

To enhance its security attitude, Cliobank in California has implemented additional safeguards and security measures aimed at protecting data and monitoring systems. However, the company has not yet revealed whether the donor information, such as donor ID numbers, was violated in violation. This has raised significant privacy concerns for individuals who have previously anonymously donated sperm, as donor ID numbers are usually shared with customers and can be used by offspring to learn more about their biological fathers when they turn 18.

The potential exposure of donor information is particularly surprising given the sensitive nature of sperm donations and the expectations of anonymity. Many donors choose to remain anonymous to protect their privacy and avoid potential legal or emotional complications that may arise from being identified. If the donor ID number is actually stolen during a violation, it can have widespread consequences for both the donor and its descendants.

To date, California Cryobank has not responded to inquiries regarding donor data exposure. Due to the lack of transparency surrounding this aspect of the violation, many individuals feel concerned about the safety of their personal information.
