Lebanon’s Caretaker Foreign Minister Abdallah Bouhabib expressed his condolences on Monday over the deaths of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian.
Iranian state media said Raisi, Amirabdollahian and others were found dead after their helicopter crashed in a foggy mountainous area in the country’s northwest.
“Since I came to this office, I have met the foreign minister many times and we have become a kind of friend,” Bouhabib said, adding that he and Amirabdollahian “exchanged information freely” and consulted regularly. He added that they get along well.

“I feel a great sense of loss over his death. I have been saddened ever since I heard the news yesterday,” she added.

The accident occurred as the Middle East remained unstable due to the Israeli-Hamas war, during which Mr. Raisi, 63, under the command of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Ali Khamenei, made a statement against Israel just last month. launched an unprecedented attack using drones and missiles.
