Tom Brady, LeBron, and Jeter Unite at Fanatics Fest
There was quite a buzz at Fanatics Fest in New York City, featuring a large gathering of sports fans and notable athletes. CEO Lance Fensterman mentioned that big names like Serena Williams and David Beckham were also in attendance. The event is anticipated to draw around 200,000 visitors over four days, showcasing significant growth compared to 2022.
LeBron James did not announce his next team during the celebration on Thursday, but he certainly created a stir. As the all-time leading scorer in the NBA and a free agent, he’s expressed his desire to play for a remarkable 24th season. Speculated teams, like the Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Philadelphia 76ers, all remain in the conversation. During a live taping of his podcast “Mind the Game” alongside Indiana Pacers player Tyrese Haliburton at the event, James mentioned a phrase often linked with the Sixers.
“I want to join a franchise that shares the same model of practicing championship habits every day and trusting the process above all else,” he said, before being cut short by enthusiastic fan reactions.
Haliburton playfully interrupted, asking for clarification. Yet, James clarified that his comment was not a hint about his future plans.
Responding to fans cheering, James said, “Ever since I was drafted in 2003, I’ve always said, ‘Trust the process.’ [Joel] Embiid is born.” He added, “This is a big decision not just for me but for my family. It’s not just about the team.” Jokingly, he noted how his son Bronny is now a former teammate.
While discussing his next steps, James emphasized considering factors that impact both his professional and personal well-being, stating, “what suits me best as a player, what suits me best as a person, what suits my well-being best, and also about my family.”
Last season, the 41-year-old averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists, and 6.1 rebounds, contributing to the Lakers’ playoff success while others were nursing injuries.
