Possible Alliance Between LeBron James and Stephen Curry
LeBron James and Stephen Curry, who have been rivals throughout their NBA careers, may soon consider teaming up.
As reported by NBC Sports Warriors Insider Monte Poole, there’s a conversation happening about James possibly joining the Golden State Warriors. Poole asserted that, while this idea might sound outlandish, there’s genuine intrigue from both sides. “This wasn’t something we even contemplated five or six years ago,” he remarked. “It might not materialize, but we should keep the door open. The ball is mostly in LeBron’s court,” he added.
Interestingly, while many think James will stay with the Lakers to play alongside his son, Bronny, an additional report from Brett Siegel at Clutch Points indicates that Curry is hoping to meet with LeBron this offseason to discuss the possibility of bringing him to Golden State.
In the past five years, James has frequently stated how much he enjoys playing with Curry, describing their experience together at the 2024 Olympics in Paris as fulfilling his dreams.
Warriors owner Joe Lacob expressed enthusiasm for such a partnership, emphasizing his fondness for star players. A little backstory: a year after Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson earned their first title in 2015, they had a memorable battle against Kevin Durant and the Thunder in the Western Conference Finals.
The Warriors secured that series in seven games, which eventually led to facing LeBron and the Cavaliers in the Finals. Despite holding a 3-1 lead, they ultimately fell to Cleveland in seven. In response, Lacob and the Warriors decided to sign Durant, who played a vital role in leading the team to back-to-back championships and earned Finals MVP honors twice.
Poole hinted at the intriguing possibility of LeBron, Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Green—who happens to be one of LeBron’s closest friends—joining forces in pursuit of another NBA title.
