Liberal media, cultural institutions giving Kamala an easy pass

Live from New York, we report on building the Kamala Harris presidential myth.

Deadline reported on Wednesday Maya Rudolph will be returning to Saturday Night Live this fall as Harris, a role she has played 10 times on the show and for which she has won an Emmy Award., Intention Appoint a Vice President As the fun-loving and feisty wine aunt “Fant,” she’s ready to ruthlessly crush her straitlaced opponents.

It’s true that in terms of parody potential, both Ms. Harris and Mr. Trump have a lot to offer: Mr. Trump’s bombastic speeches, stilted postures and flag-hugging; Mr. Harris’s wordplay and uncomfortable laughter. Imagine what “SNL” might do with an interview with Lester Holt, in which Mr. Harris points out that despite being the “border czar,” he’s never been to the actual border.

“And I’ve never been to Europe,” she replied with an awkward laugh.

But I predict Only The candidates will be treated like clowns because “SNL” has abandoned its traditional, two-sided approach to political criticism. Gone are the days when left and right got the flak they deserved. With Obama in office, that precedent disappeared, with former show writer Jim Downey noting that the president has “no flaws or charms to lampoon.”

Really?

This is unfortunate, but it’s also consistent with how Harris’ early campaign has been treated: Trump isn’t just running against Harris, he’s running against the liberal media and cultural institutions that have spun their cocoon around the vice president and shaped the image of Kamala the public sees in the Oval Office.

The media has allowed Democrats to rewrite Harris’ history, from her far-left policy positions to her role leading the border.

Last weekend, Politico ran a story about her stance on fracking, a law she explicitly said on camera in 2019 that she wanted to ban.

“Harris campaign promises not to ban fracking after Trump rebuke,” Politico reported. After receiving backlash, the paper removed “Trump rebuke” from the headline but left it in the body of the article.

The media has repeatedly said Harris was not in charge of border control, despite a plethora of articles and footage from 2021 suggesting otherwise.

This week’s New York Magazine cover proclaims “Camalot” and features a photo of Harris laughing on a coconut, while Gen Z TikToks call her a “brat.” (As we all know, that’s a good thing.) Full of memes.

Esquire magazine dug up her cookbook collection, and the Los Angeles Times actually ran a story with the headline “Kamala Harris is a chef and knows L.A. restaurants like the back of her hand. Could that help her win?”

If that happens, God help us, we will get what we deserve. We are all burnt toast.

Without real reporting, those frothy features are silly.

Publications from the New York Times to the New Yorker have covered her “change in tone,” but not much about the policy changes.

Harris has supported abolishing ICE, is a supporter of the Green New Deal, and was ranked the “most liberal” senator by GovTrack in 2019, a result that has since been relegated to the back of memory. GovTrack recently changed its tune, retracting the label and saying that its rankings, which use data from one year, “are not sufficient to create a reliable portrait of a member of Congress’ activities.”

Interestingly just This became a problem.

Let’s not forget, Harris has always maintained that Biden is healthy and well.

She failed to survive the primary process and her 2019 campaign revealed her to be a flawed, shallow and half-hearted candidate.

She has attended two political rallies so far, including one where she hosted a performance by Megan Thee Stallion.

Democrats are running the same campaign they did for Biden in 2020: campaigning from the basement. And with only three more months to keep this farce going, there’s a good chance she’ll sneak into the White House.

So much for protecting democracy.

Trump, meanwhile, has said he wants to renegotiate the terms of the debate he agreed to with Biden but not with Harris, but is at least open to venturing into hostile territory.

On Wednesday, he appeared on a National Association of Black Journalists panel that was either a coup or a Hindenburg-level disaster, depending on what social media echo system you live in.

But Harris running. she Pilot Throughout the new campaign, she’s been keeping her feet moving on an anti-gravity treadmill, but without feeling the impact of pavement or reality.

And the Trump campaign is letting it happen. Instead of exposing this nonsense and focusing on his opponent’s true political identity, Trump is mired in the quagmire of her racial identity.

The Trump campaign needs to focus on substance rather than personal attacks.

Or you can add yourself to the list of potential opponents.
