Georgetown University Flyer Sparks Controversy

A flyer promoting the John Brown Gun Club was reportedly circulated at Georgetown University, echoing a slogan linked to the tragic murder of Charlie Kirk.

The flyer featured bold red letters with phrases like “Hey, fascist! Catch!” It claims that the John Brown Gun Club is unique in celebrating the deaths of Nazis, likely referencing Kirk’s assassination on September 10.

“There are students on this campus who want to see conservatives dying,” one quote highlights, showcasing the intense atmosphere surrounding the situation.

Georgetown sophomore Shae McInnis, who serves as treasurer for the College Republican Club, spotted the flyer on Wednesday. She remarked, “I read this as a threat right away. It’s notjust about me; it affects everyone on this campus.” In her view, the message poses a direct threat to conservatives and anyone who doesn’t align with the prevailing leftist ideology.

“This shows there are students who would prefer to see conservatives dead instead of engaging in political dialogue,” McInnis added, reflecting the tensions of campus discourse.

Historically, the John Brown Gun Club emerged with a focus on mobilizing the white working class for a social justice agenda. Although they claim to provide armed protection during protests, local chapters are often associated with extreme leftist groups like Antifa, which have been linked to various violent incidents.

A notable event was the death of a club member, Willem Vancensen, who was killed by law enforcement in 2019 while attempting to attack an ICE facility with explosives.

In response to the unfolding situation, a Georgetown University representative stated that the flyers had been removed and an investigation is underway. “Georgetown University has zero tolerance for violence or threats,” the spokesperson affirmed, emphasizing their commitment to community safety.

So far, Georgetown has not provided further comments on the matter.
