Rubio Declares Maduro Not Venezuela’s President

On Sunday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Nicolas Maduro “is not the president of Venezuela.” He further claimed that Maduro leads a narcoterrorist cartel that has “stolen the property of the country.”

Rubio made this announcement via social media, asserting that Maduro’s administration lacks legitimacy and is essentially in charge of a cartel dubbed the “Cartel de los Sales.” It’s a pretty stark accusation, really.

In a related development, Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) shared a letter he sent to President Donald Trump back in March, urging that the Cartel del Los Saul be recognized as a foreign terrorist organization. He expressed gratitude for the administration’s decision to issue this designation, saying, “It’s hard for Americans to terrorize our country right now with this disgusting gang flooding with deadly drugs.”

Rubio continued by saying that declaring Maduro the winner of any election “contradicts the will of the people of Venezuela.”

“The United States remains committed to supporting Venezuela’s democratic order and restoring justice,” Rubio noted on Sunday. He mentioned a statement that reinforced this support. “Maduro is not the president of Venezuela and his administration is not a legitimate government.”

The Secretary also highlighted that Maduro has been charged by the US Department of Justice regarding drug trafficking to both the United States and Europe.

In his closing remarks, Rubio emphasized that for years, Maduro and his associates have manipulated the electoral process to cling to power unlawfully.

Additionally, Venezuela is noted as the origin of the Tren de Aragua prison gang, which has gained notoriety. Interestingly, during the Biden administration, Maduro faced increased scrutiny. Back in March, Rubio’s State Department labeled hyper-violent gangs as foreign terrorist organizations.
