Man Arrested in Chicago for Alleged Threats to ICE Officers and Politicians

Man Accused of Threatening ICE Officials in Chicago Suburb

A resident of suburban Chicago has been charged with making violent threats against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials, coinciding with President Trump’s plans to intensify measures against illegal immigration in the area.

The suspect, 33-year-old Michael Stober, was taken into custody on Friday while in the parking lot of his apartment in Downers Grove. Reports indicate he also made threats against prominent politicians.

Stober is facing felony charges for allegedly posing a credible threat to ICE and federal employees. The FBI’s Chicago division shared images related to his arrest.

This isn’t an isolated incident. In July, another man from New York allegedly threatened to kill an ICE agent and his child, and there was a report of a man from Ohio making violent threats against ICE agents online.

According to sealed criminal charges, Stober is accused of posting multiple threatening comments on social media earlier this year, including intentions to kill ICE agents and threats aimed at the President. Online in April, he wrote, “The US president said he wanted to build a concentration camp for his political opponent. War on this attacker, or we are dead in slavery. I’ll put your poster and selfie stick and pick up my weapon!”

Additionally, Stober reportedly shared images of rifle bullets inscribed with the names of several well-known politicians. Authorities had been keeping an eye on his social media activities for months prior to his arrest.

In a related post, Stober described himself on a social media platform as an “anarchist,” “anti-fascist,” and “expert shooter.”

Local law enforcement claimed that Stober had threatened his wife during a domestic disturbance in May, which prompted her to call 911. When officers arrived, they found five rifles, a shotgun, several handguns, and ammunition at his residence. However, the wife did not pursue charges, leading to his release.

Legal papers indicate that he threatened to kill ICE agents on July 7. Stober remains in custody and is set for a court appearance on Wednesday.

In August, reports surfaced confirming that Homeland Security Secretary Christa Noem acknowledged the Trump administration’s plans to enhance ICE operations in Chicago, targeting individuals with criminal backgrounds across the nation.
