Two Arrested After Attempted Break-In at Clyde Naval Base

Authorities have confirmed that two individuals were arrested on Thursday following a failed attempt to breach Scotland’s Clyde Naval Base.

One of those detained is an Iranian man, while the nationality of the second person, a woman, has not been disclosed, according to reports from the Telegraph.

Police Scotland released a statement indicating that at around 5 PM on Thursday, March 19, 2026, officers observed two people trying to gain access to the base. The suspects, a 34-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, were arrested shortly after, and the investigation is still ongoing.

The Telegraph also noted that the individuals were turned away from the naval base for lacking the necessary credentials and were apprehended nearby for “suspicious behavior.” It seems, perhaps, that they were clearly not well-prepared for such an audacious attempt.

In an official comment, a Royal Navy representative stated that the police action was part of an ongoing investigation and declined to provide further details at this time. It’s clear the situation at Naval Base Clyde, commonly referred to as Faslane, is being taken seriously.

This base is significant, serving as the UK’s main facility for its missile fleet, housing crucial assets for national defense.

The Royal Navy has emphasized that this base hosts the core of the UK’s nuclear deterrent and submarine fleet, which includes advanced hunter-killer submarines. Currently, the British Parliament reported that the Royal Navy operates nine submarines based there, which strengthens its strategic position.
