Man Arrested for Allegedly Raping Teen He Lured Online

A man was released under the condition of undergoing mental health treatment after being charged with raping a minor. This recent incident raises concerns given his prior convictions.

On Monday, William Credle, aged 24, reportedly met a 15-year-old girl online and arranged for a rideshare driver to bring her to his Bronx apartment, where he then assaulted her, according to police reports.

Law enforcement noted that Credle was already wanted in connection with another alleged assault.

It’s troubling to learn that he took the girl’s tablet, her only means of contacting anyone, and refused to let her leave. When she pleaded to go home, he assaulted her again and struck her in the head, police stated.

Fortunately, the girl’s parents became aware that she was missing when she did not return home to New Jersey. They used her tablet to track her location, leading them to Credle’s residence. The New York City police apprehended him on Hughes Street close to East 187th Street on Tuesday night.

Credle faces several charges, which include rape, sexual abuse, and false imprisonment.

In court, Bronx District Attorney Nicole Beechboard revealed that the suspect forced the victim to consume marijuana and a Snapple drink that contained an unusual substance.

Adding to the gravity of the situation, it has been revealed that Credle was already on parole while awaiting the outcome of a verdict for a comparable crime committed in 2023.

“At the age of 21, he previously arranged for a 14-year-old girl to be brought to his apartment via Uber, where she was also sexually assaulted,” Beachboard explained. “The girl claimed to have noticed drugs and firearms in the apartment.”

Following his release, Credle was required to seek mental health and rehabilitation treatment, but he has since violated other terms of his release, prompting a warrant for his arrest.

Notably, he also failed to appear in court on four occasions and has been charged with other violent offenses, including allegedly striking his mother.

Currently, Credle’s bail is set at $50,000.
