Massive Search Party Sent to Mexico for Nancy Guthrie
A significant search operation was initiated in Mexico for Nancy Guthrie, mother of Savannah Guthrie, following an anonymous tip about a possible shallow grave close to the Nogales border. Despite the extensive efforts, Nancy Guthrie has not yet been located. The Pima County Sheriff’s Office has stated that the investigation is still actively ongoing.
In Arizona, a separate investigation is currently taking place after a woman was reportedly sexually assaulted during a home invasion approximately 30 miles away from where Nancy Guthrie vanished six months ago. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos noted that there’s no current evidence linking these two incidents.
The assault occurred just after 2:40 a.m. on Monday at a home on West Vegas Drive, close to Taylor Lane and Ajo Way. Deputies responded to the scene following a report of the assault. Authorities revealed that the suspect entered through an unlocked door, assaulted the victim, and then fled the scene. As of Tuesday, there have been no arrests in connection to this incident.
The suspect is described as either Hispanic or white, standing around 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a thin build and a gray beard. He was last seen wearing an oversized green shirt.
The home invasion took place about 30 miles from the Catalina Foothills residence where Nancy, who is 84, was last seen on February 1. Both the FBI and the Sheriff’s Department are continuing their investigations into her disappearance.
Fox News Digital reported that FBI Director Kash Patel expressed concerns that a four-day delay in the FBI’s involvement in the Guthrie case might have resulted in the loss of crucial video evidence. Patel criticized the sheriff’s office for being “outside the investigation” during that critical period.
Contrarily, Sheriff Nanos refuted Patel’s claims, stating that the FBI was promptly notified and has been cooperating with the investigation.
Authorities mentioned that an unidentified individual seen outside Nancy’s residence is believed to be between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall. The sheriff’s office is urging nearby residents to review their home security and neighborhood surveillance footage for any information that could assist in identifying the suspect.

The FBI has yet to respond to inquiries regarding the ongoing investigation.
