Local Bank Faces Backlash Over Poor Customer Service
For a business, having a solid online reputation is crucial for growth and overall success.
A man’s funds were wrongly frozen at a local credit union for more than a month. Each time he sought assistance, he was met with indifference and unkindness from the staff.
In the end, he opted for a clever, though unconventional, form of revenge.
Honestly, I have no idea why I chose to deposit some money in this tiny local credit union. Not long ago, my card stopped working at an ATM, so I went into the branch for help. The clerk gave me a code allowing me to access cash directly from my account. It’s a standard feature banks offer; nothing special.
Unfortunately, his funds were in limbo, and there was no one available to assist him.
A few days later, my account was flagged for review due to a clerical error. There was a hold on my withdrawal, but I don’t have an overdraft; it was a small mistake on their end. Still, my funds were locked for over a month, and every time I called, I faced sarcastic remarks. At times, I even felt the clerk’s disdain for my foreign-sounding last name.
His younger cousin suggested a little payback to rectify the situation.
I reached out to my family back home for some venting, and my cousin proposed a plan. He suggested using a popular Russian service that pays users in rubles every time they post something on social media. It worked like a charm, by the way. The site had different profile options, including an American style.
After a flood of negative comments on social media, the bank’s branch manager reached out to him.
With just a few dollars spent on this service and the AI tools that followed, my complaint generated hundreds of negative posts about the credit union. I got a call from the bank’s call center manager that day, expressing understanding for my frustration. Even though I wasn’t planning to keep the account, they offered to transfer my entire balance to another bank, plus add a $50 compensation. Problem solved.
Unfortunately, they can’t simply delete the negative comments right away.
Maybe they realized there was no way to trace this back to me. They hinted at wrapping things up positively. Sadly, Russian bots don’t take requests to delete posts. Now, that’s someone else’s headache.

This incident serves as a reminder: never underestimate the impact of digital karma.
