Since dawn, over 100 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza – Report
Since early morning, at least 101 Palestinians have lost their lives due to Israeli assaults in the Gaza Strip. This information comes from reports indicating conditions on the ground.
The civil defense agency in Gaza stated that approximately 33 individuals were killed in airstrikes conducted on Sunday.
Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis reported receiving the bodies of 20 victims from multiple overnight airstrikes, which struck homes and tents located in areas claimed to be “safe zones.”
In central Gaza, at least ten people were killed in two separate airstrikes, according to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah.
A single airstrike in the town of Zweida resulted in the deaths of seven people, including two children and four women. Another strike hit an apartment in Deir al-Balah, claiming the lives of two parents and their child.
Overall, the recent escalation has seen hundreds of Palestinians killed by Israeli military actions since Saturday, with hospitals and refugee camps also becoming targets.
Many people view these attacks as part of a broader strategy by Israel aimed at driving Palestinians out of the region, describing it as ethnic cleansing, especially with aid being blocked and individuals forcibly removed from their homes.
This continued bombing campaign is seen as an attempt to pressure the Palestinian militant group Hamas, particularly following Israel’s announcement of intensified attacks starting late Friday.
Hamas reportedly still holds 57 of the approximately 250 hostages taken during an attack in southern Israel back in October 2023, an incident that led to roughly 1,200 deaths.
As of Saturday, Hamas confirmed ongoing ceasefire negotiations with Israel in Doha. An official from the group mentioned that discussions were taking place without preconditions.
He elaborated, stating:
The Hamas delegation emphasized the importance of ending the war, exchanging prisoners, Israel withdrawing from Gaza, and ensuring the necessities of life return to the strip.
Israel has not yet given a public response to this proposition.
Meanwhile, humanitarian officials have warned that Gaza stands on the edge of a catastrophic situation, as the blockade has led to critical shortages of food and fuel. The situation worsened following the lockdown imposed on March 2. Updates on the ongoing conflict will continue throughout the day.
