Many Voters Believe Trump is Overlooking the Economy and Inflation, Survey Finds

Poll Reveals Americans’ Discontent with Trump’s Economic Policies

According to a recent CBS News poll, many Americans aren’t satisfied with President Donald Trump’s economic management. Released late Sunday, the poll indicates that just 36% of adults approve of his approach, while a significant 64% disapprove.

The survey also found that a striking 77% believe the president isn’t dedicating enough time to tackle inflation and economic issues. About 18% think he’s allocating the right amount of time, while only 5% say he’s spending too much time on the matter.

Additionally, 65% of those surveyed believe his policies are driving food prices up, but only 14% think they contribute to lower prices. When it comes to recent price trends, 58% reported that prices have risen, 31% felt they’ve stayed the same, and 11% observed a decrease.

Only 32% of participants rated the current state of the U.S. economy as “good.” Regarding inflation, 32% expressed support for Trump’s strategies, while a notable 68% disapproved.

In a speech on November 17, Trump emphasized his focus on revitalizing the economy post-Biden’s administration, claiming that his previous economic policies led to noteworthy job and wage increases. He alleged that the Biden administration sparked an affordability crisis but then suggested they were also resolving it.

In his speech, Trump touted a 14% decrease in breakfast prices over the last six months, along with claims of falling prices for bread and dairy products, even stating that egg prices had dropped 86% since March.

However, Vice President J.D. Vance acknowledged the ongoing challenges. At a Breitbart News event, he mentioned the administration’s work was far from done in economic recovery, stressing that although progress exists, it might take time for people to notice it.

Despite the criticisms, the economy added 119,000 jobs in September, surpassing expectations, as reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The unemployment rate remained steady at 4.4% for that month.

Interestingly, an American Farm Bureau Federation study released on November 19 predicted that costs for Thanksgiving meal essentials might decrease slightly this year compared to the last.

The CBS News/YouGov poll surveyed 2,489 adults nationwide between November 19 and 21 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.4 percentage points.
