Many witnesses allegedly film while a 15-year-old boy is brutally attacked and then fatally shot at a playground

Tragic Incident in Queens Playground

Recently in a New York City playground, a shocking incident occurred where a 15-year-old boy was violently beaten and fatally shot, all while numerous bystanders recorded the events. This horrific altercation took place last week, leading to widespread outrage and concern.

The violent confrontation involved a young victim, Jayden Pierre, who was attacked by several individuals, as detailed in a video shared by former Mayor Eric Adams on social media. Reports indicate that while Pierre attempted to defend himself, he was repeatedly punched and kicked. There seemed to be little regard for his well-being from those in attendance, as they viewed the ordeal as somewhat entertaining.

“They treated the whole thing as entertainment. He had already been beaten. He was helpless, so they shot him.”

According to accounts, one attacker lunged at Pierre, brought him to the ground, and then, after Pierre struggled to get up, another individual brandished a firearm and struck him with it. It was reported that a gunshot was then fired, resulting in Pierre collapsing to the ground, while the crowd dispersed in panic.

Following the shooting, law enforcement indicated that Pierre sustained a gunshot wound to his chest and was declared dead shortly thereafter. The next day, police identified an 18-year-old suspect, Zahir Davis, connected to the shooting. Initially a member of a local gang, Davis is believed to have fled abroad, possibly back to Jamaica, not long after the incident.

Conflicting information has arisen regarding the nature of the gathering that day, with some sources claiming it was a water gun fight organized by Pierre, while others suggest it involved water balloons. There also exists video evidence showing an associate of Davis attacking Pierre, suggesting prior animosities played a role in the events that unfolded.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenney commented on the chaos, stating, “If you look at the video, you see him hit him in the head with a gun, and as he falls, a gunshot goes off.” He elaborated that the attacker had previously confronted Pierre several months earlier, pointing to a cycle of violence.

During a vigil held for Pierre, Attorney General Letitia James addressed attendees, stating that authorities knew the identity of the shooter and urged the person to turn themselves in. She was joined by many mourners and Pierre’s family, with his father expressing pride in his son’s resilience and strength.

Pierre’s sister, distraught over the indifference shown by those recording the attack, expressed her disdain, emphasizing the disconnect of viewers treating a life-and-death situation as a mere spectacle. She described how her brother’s hopes for a brighter future, including a potential summer job, were abruptly cut short.

The case remains under investigation, and there are hopeful wishes from family and community members for justice to prevail in the wake of this tragic loss.
