Maxwell’s lawyer states he has not discussed a pardon with Trump’s team.

Maxwell's lawyer states he has not discussed a pardon with Trump's team.

The attorney representing Ghislaine Maxwell, who was convicted of sex offenses and had connections to the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, stated that he hasn’t interacted with President Trump’s team regarding potential pardons for his client.

“We take things one day at a time, I know that’s a bit of a cliché, but everything shifts so quickly,” Maxwell’s lawyer, David Oscar Marx, told reporters on Friday, following their second consecutive meeting with Justice Department officials.

“We’ve not had conversations with the president or anyone related to a pardon,” he continued. “After hearing the president say this morning that he has that authority, we hope he will use it justly moving forward.”

Assistant Attorney General Todd Blanche spoke with Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year sentence in a Florida prison. Their initial meeting extended over five hours.

Earlier on Friday, Attorney Oscar Marx mentioned that Maxwell had engaged in a “full and comprehensive” interview with Blanche.

“There were no outside influences or access. We’re very grateful; the truth is coming out,” the lawyer commented.

Blanche has not yet provided any details regarding Friday’s discussions with Maxwell.

On the same day, Trump mentioned he hadn’t contemplated pardoning Maxwell, especially as her case is being reviewed by the Supreme Court. “It’s not something I’m thinking about. I have the option to do so, but it’s just not on my mind,” he stated.

“Pardons aren’t something we can discuss,” he later added.

The second day of Blanche’s interviews with Maxwell comes amid increasing pressure on the administration from Trump’s supporters and political adversaries, as more documents related to the Epstein case are released.

Trump suggested that attention should shift toward others involved, such as former Presidents Clinton and Obama, especially following new information regarding Russian interference in the 2016 election.

“People should really be focusing on how well the country is doing, or the fact that Barack Obama was at the center of a coup. [Former Treasury Secretary] Larry Summers, [former President] Bill Clinton, and many of Epstein’s close associates should come under scrutiny,” Trump asserted.

“They don’t speak about them; they only talk about me,” he added. “I have no connection to that individual.”

Trump also asserted that he has never visited Epstein’s private island.

Epstein died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial, and a recent joint statement from the FBI and DOJ reaffirmed the cause of death. It was noted that the disgraced financier’s client list remains unknown.
