Adams also argued that there is nothing that can be done to undo New York City's sanctuary policy, which protects illegal aliens from being turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
“We can't legally tell people who come into the city, 'You can't come into the city,'” Adams said. “We can't even turn them over to ICE…The law says we can't notify ICE. I can't break the law or enforce the law.”
Scott told Adams that with the city at breaking point, why is the government offering free hotel rooms, meals, city-run shelters, free cell phones and other services to border crossers and undocumented immigrants? Why should we continue to pour billions of dollars into people's lives?
For example, the iconic Roosevelt Hotel in midtown Manhattan was transformed into a migrant camp, with more than 70,000 people passing through a luxurious lobby before being moved to other hotels and shelters.
Adams said New York City is “flooded” and as a result, the city’s services for border crossers and undocumented immigrants have been cut short by “food, shelter, clothing, [and] that's it. “

The Biden administration is releasing approximately 5,000 border crossers and illegal aliens into the interior of the United States each day, many of whom end up in New York City, where they work and are protected by the city's sanctuary policy.
