Controversy at TPUSA Event
At a recent Turning Point USA (TPUSA) event held at Virginia Tech, conservative commentator Megyn Kelly faced tough questions from liberal students. They challenged her on her support for the president, suggesting that his rhetoric contributed to the tragic death of Charlie Kirk.
During the gathering, which was notable as it occurred shortly after Kirk’s assassination, tensions ran high. Kelly, echoing Kirk’s own style, engaged with the students amid the charged atmosphere.
One student posed a pointed question: “Why do you support the president who contributes to the rhetoric that killed your friend Charlie Kirk? I saw his recent rally, where he said, ‘I hate the enemy.’”
Kelly quickly responded, labeling the assertion that Trump’s words were linked to Kirk’s murder as “a blatant lie” and deemed it inappropriate for the discussion at hand.
Despite attempts by the students to clarify their points, Kelly remained steadfast and continued to defend her perspective.
“Then there’s no point in you. And your point is completely empty. Are you contributing to this atmosphere? Let’s be clear, this individual was motivated by left-wing ideology,” she asserted, receiving applause from a section of the audience.
“We know this from the bullet casing. We know this from the governor of Utah. We know this from his own mother,” she added emphatically.
Tyler Robinson has been identified as the suspect in Kirk’s assassination, with reports suggesting he utilized Antifa messaging related to his actions, motivated by his perceived “hatred.”
The Biden administration has designated Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization, describing it as a group that aims to disrupt lawful order through violent means.
Kelly also spoke at a memorial for Kirk, which took place in Phoenix, touching on student criticism regarding comments made by President Trump.
“The President joked during the memorial, making light of things while acknowledging a tragic situation,” she mentioned. “He has every right to express his enmity toward those who have tried to harm him and his family.”
Following Kirk’s murder, many of his friends and fellow conservative commentators have pledged to continue his legacy by speaking at various campuses. His widow, Erica Kirk, confirmed that the fall campus tour will go on as planned. High-profile speakers such as Tucker Carlson and Vivek Ramaswamy are among those expected to participate.
The next event on the schedule is set for September 30th at Utah State, featuring a lineup of prominent conservative figures.
