Authorities in Tamaulipas’ Mexican border states remain tense over the recent rescue of 21 victims who have been accused of cartel gunmen and are clearly in the process of being drafted into criminal organizations. Officials are actively trying to hide the massive amounts of lures and rescues, claiming the area is safe.
The rescue took place over the weekend in the Balcones de Alcala district in Reinosa, Tamaulipas, after a short shootout between state police and Gulf Cartel shooters.
Following the shootout, a group of activists looking for mass graves and victims of aiding forces began to try and find the parents of the rescued victim. Some victims needed medical care. Information provided to Breitbart Texas by The Group Love for The Disabed (Amor Por Los Desaparecidos) revealed that the victims included 17 men, two women, a 13-year-old woman and a 15-year-old man.
The victims were primarily from Tamaulipas, but some of them came from states such as Guerrero, Veracruz, Chaipas and Jalisco.
Activists revealed to Breitbart Texas that the victims had been robbed over time. The criminal organization was drafting the victims. But activists will not say which cartel was responsible.
The city of Reinosa is currently managed by the Metropolitan faction of the Gulf Cartel, a group designated as a foreign terrorist organization by the US Department of State. Over the past few months, Reinosa has seen the dramatic spikes of forced disappearance and the constant discovery of a new secret cemetery. At the same time, a government spokesperson for Tamaulipas argued that crime is ongoing decline.
