A former mayor of a Mexican border city's mother and aunt were killed when a small plane crashed a short distance from the runway. The crash killed a total of four people, including three American women and the pilot.
Mexican authorities continue to investigate the cause of a fatal crash that occurred near the local airport in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila state, on Friday. The plane's victims also included the mother and aunt of former Matamoros mayor Alfonso Sánchez Garza. They have been identified as Adriana Garza Ibarra, Rosario Garza Ibarra and Hilda Garza Ibarra.

According to information provided to Breitbart Texas by authorities in Coahuila, the Piper PA46 Comanche (tail number N6074A) crashed, killing all on board, including pilot Antonio Avila Ibarra.
The plane departed from Matamoros, Tamaulipas state on the Mexican border, and headed to Saltillo, the capital of Coahuila state. The cause of the crash remains unknown.
Alfonso Sánchez Garza was born in Brownsville, Texas, but was a member of the PRI party and served as mayor of Matamoros from 2011 to 2013. Throughout his political career, Sanchez was a close ally of cartel-linked former Tamaulipas governor Eugenio Hernández Flores. As reported by Breitbart Texas, Hernandez Flores was wanted by the U.S. Department of Justice while enjoying freedom in Mexico and is considering a return to politics.
