NYPD officers arrested five men on suspicion of jumping on another man in bed and injuring a security guard during a scuffle at a Randall Island immigrant shelter early Monday morning, authorities and local media said. did.
Five men, ranging in age from 20 to 33, are accused of punching another man who was eating in his bed at a shelter on East 125th Street just before 2 a.m., authorities said.
Police said a group of migrants surrounded the bed and punched and scratched the victim’s “entire head and face” and legs.

The five are charged with third-degree assault and harassment.
The suspects were identified as Howard Ochoa Olivero (27), Jose Manuel Maza (29), Jose Sequera (20), Xavier Pacheco (33), and Carlos Maiz Betancourt (27).

Video showed a heavy police presence outside the shelter as suspects were taken away in handcuffs and at least two people were loaded into ambulances.
Local reports said a security guard at the shelter was injured trying to quell the attack.
