Mike Erickson was declared the winner of the crowded Republican primary in Oregon’s 6th Congressional District on Tuesday night and will face Democratic Congressman Andrea Salinas in November.
The Associated Press called Erickson’s race Tuesday night in a district that includes parts of Polk, Yamhill, Marion, Clackamas and Washington counties.
Erickson, the Tigard businessman who lost to Salinas in 2022, touted his record as a political outsider and said his top priorities in Congress were “securing the southern border, fighting inflation and improving law enforcement.” “Support,” he told the Statesman Journal.
David Russ, mayor of Dundee, Yamhill County, Oregon, lost to Erickson in the 2022 primary, but has an extensive track record in the private sector.
