Milei and Netanyahu Introduce ‘Isaac Accords’ Initiative Connecting Israel and the Western Hemisphere

Isaac Accord Launched by Argentina and Israel

On Sunday, Argentine President Javier Milei and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu introduced the Isaac Accord, a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing cooperation among Argentina, Israel, and other like-minded nations in the Western Hemisphere.

Argentina’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that the Isaac Accord is designed to create a framework for collaboration focused on defending freedom and democracy while tackling terrorism, anti-Semitism, and drug trafficking. Interestingly, this initiative draws inspiration from former President Donald Trump’s vision behind the Abraham Accords, particularly in addressing Iran’s actions in the region.

The accord seeks to improve coordination in international arenas and encourage joint efforts in innovation, technology, trade, and economic openness. The Argentine Ministry emphasized, “The Isaac Agreement aims to promote peace through measures that support long-term stability, security, and prosperity in the region,” while expressing a desire for the agreement to extend to other nations sharing similar values.

Prime Minister Milei’s visit to Israel marked her third official trip since assuming office in December 2023. During her time in Jerusalem, Milley and Netanyahu reportedly met around noon, and she visited the Western Wall with local authorities. Netanyahu referred to Milei as a “great friend of the State of Israel” and acknowledged her leadership qualities.

The signing of the Isaac Accord occurred after official discussions between the two leaders, with U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee attending the ceremony on behalf of President Trump. “This opportunity to bring us together today not only strengthens the relationship between Argentina and Israel, but also moves us toward a freer, safer, and more prosperous America,” Milley noted during the event.

Milei also announced the launch of a new civil air route between Buenos Aires and Tel Aviv starting in November, which is a significant development. The president further reiterated Argentina’s intention to move its embassy to Jerusalem “as soon as conditions allow,” emphasizing the fairness of this decision. Although Argentina had initially set a timeline to complete the relocation by May 2026, it has since delayed due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.

Netanyahu commended Milei’s moral fortitude and lauded her solidarity with the Jewish community in combating anti-Semitism. He acknowledged the close alliance between the United States, Israel, and Argentina amid the backdrop of concerns regarding Iranian activities that threaten global stability.

On Sunday, Milei participated in a ceremony marking Israel’s upcoming Independence Day, lighting a traditional festival torch that symbolizes the twelve tribes of Israel. Netanyahu highlighted that she was the first foreign leader to partake in this significant ritual.

Milei is expected to continue her official schedule on Monday with a meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog and a visit to Yeshiva Hebron in Jerusalem, where she will receive a recognition award. Further plans include engaging with local rabbis and attending an Independence Day ceremony before returning to Argentina.
