Tragic Shooting of Missouri Teen Unfolds

A Missouri teenager lost her life while spending time with friends, leading to a shocking revelation for her mother. The friends in question are now facing accusations for failing to report the incident.

Gabriela Boister, just 16 years old, reportedly sustained a head injury in her home in Hillsboro, Missouri, on Friday night. However, her mother, Candy Gusell, only found her body the following afternoon, as noted in a report.

“Although the victim was found Saturday afternoon, investigators believe the shooting occurred Friday night, and the victim’s body was left unattended for several hours,” stated Jefferson County Sheriff David Marshak.

Gusell expressed her anguish, saying that her daughter was “lying there…sitting” in her room.

Authorities suspect that three boys were present in Boister’s home during the incident. One of them is facing serious charges including manslaughter, armed criminal action, and abandonment of a corpse, while the other two are charged only with abandoning the body.

Gusell shared that these boys were friends of her daughter. Gabriela had aspirations of becoming an ultrasound technician and was preparing for her senior year at Hillsboro High School. “She loved her friends…she wanted them, her friends, to leave her,” her devastated mother recounted.

Describing the tragedy, Gusell lamented the “unfair” nature of her daughter’s death, labeling it a “senseless tragedy.”

They remembered Gabriela as someone who would “always make you smile.” With a charming presence, “she had a constant laugh and a smile that made everyone around her feel at home,” they said.

“She loved deeply, cared fiercely, and brought joy wherever she went.” Gabriela was a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, and friend.

As the youngest of three siblings, she leaves behind an older sister, Hayley McClain, and a younger brother, Connor Boister. Those who knew her described Gabriela as someone who “bred warmth and laughter.”

According to her online obituary, “She may have been quiet at first, but once she opened up, her vibrant personality and talent for conversation quickly shined through.” Her kindness and joyful spirit will be dearly missed.
