Earlier this month, a group of teenagers on bikes were filmed violently assaulting a man following a road accident.
The attack happened when the victim, Shirobek Bazarbai-Uul, was in a car stopped at a red light in downtown Los Angeles, beside him was a group of about 30 young people on bicycles.
When the light turned green, he attempted to pass the group, but one of the teenagers threw a water bottle into his car. He parked his car, got out, and was quickly surrounded by the youths. The confrontation quickly became violent, with some of the youths assaulting Ull and others vandalizing his car.
The youths were seen breaking the windows of Ull’s car, jumping on the bonnet and searching inside. They stole Ull’s wallet, cash and personal documents, and broke his leg. Ull also had multiple lacerations on his body.

“I never knew teenagers could be so cruel, and I never expected them to act like that,” Ull told the Los Angeles Times. “So I got out of my car. I didn’t know it was so dangerous to get out of my car.”

Ulu was born in Kyrgyzstan and spent most of his life in Russia. He fled to the United States and sought asylum about a year ago, according to the Times. Ulu said many of the documents he needed to apply for asylum were stolen in the raid.
The footage shows bystanders watching the carnage with alarm, some filming, and several trying to intervene, eventually helping carry Ull to safety as he asks them to call police.

“This is what LA has come to,” a man filming the incident can be heard saying. “Hey, I’m not even playing, I literally just parked my car. These kids are wild and they’re not even 20 years old.”
Uhl says he did nothing to provoke the attack, but one of the teenagers can be heard claiming he blocked the bikers’ path.
“It’s been a week and no one has been arrested,” he told KTLA. “They even took my bank card and tried to use it a few days later.”
