Moms for Liberty to Utilize AI for Monitoring School Board Agendas
Moms for Liberty is implementing artificial intelligence to track school board agendas in over 13,000 school districts across the country. This initiative aims to alert parents about contentious issues before local officials cast their votes.
Tina Descovich, co-founder and CEO of Moms for Liberty, remarked to Fox News Digital, “The Biden administration targeted our parents for simply attending school board meetings, but we were just getting started. Just wait and see the results when parents get timely updates about the discussions happening in their school boards.”
The initiative, called M4L AWARE, which stands for Agenda Watch, Alert, Response, and Engage, refreshes its scans every 12 hours. It focuses on key topics like diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI), gender policies, curriculum updates, and Title IX, according to the organization that advocates for parental rights.
Whenever the system identifies a crucial issue, it sends a straightforward summary and a shareable alert to local Moms for Liberty chapters. This is designed to help parents prepare ahead of school board meetings.
The organization believes this system will provide a roughly 72-hour window for local chapters to mobilize parents, encourage them to participate in public comments, and scrutinize proposals prior to board members making their decisions.
“Moms for Liberty is leveraging AI to enhance oversight of school boards nationwide, empowering parents like never before,” Descovich expressed. “For five years, we’ve urged parents to be present at school board meetings, and they have responded. The challenge, however, is that sifting through thousands of agenda pages each week is incredibly taxing, and districts rely on that.”
She also mentioned that the AI tool would help members and other parents quickly spot concerning policies that might be hidden within lengthy school board documents, particularly when they’re released late in the week, providing families with ample time to react before any action is taken by officials.
The announcement of this tool follows a recent report from the Justice Department’s Weaponization Working Group. This report details how the FBI had opened 25 “Guardian assessments” concerning parents after a memorandum was issued by then-Attorney General Merrick Garland in October 2021, addressing perceived threats against school officials.
One revelation highlighted in the report was that an FBI whistleblower indicated a mother was investigated due to her membership in what was described as a “right-wing moms group,” identified as Moms for Liberty.
The Working Group concluded that Garland’s memo was influenced by pressure from the White House and that it misused the Department of Justice against parents.
