Most American adults support Trump’s transgender policies more than his presidency: Poll

A recent survey indicates that transgender issues resonate strongly with President Trump. Since leaving office, he has issued several executive orders on contentious matters.

According to the AP-NORC Voting survey, there’s a notable level of support for Trump’s transgender policies, with 52% of Americans backing them, compared to 41% who support his overall presidency.

Among Democrats, only 9% approved of his presidential efforts, while 19% were in favor of how he handled transgender issues. In contrast, Independents showed 27% and 48% approval, respectively, and Republicans exhibited the highest support, with 83% and 90%.

Responses regarding specific transgender topics revealed a divided stance among participants.

When asked about transgender individuals serving in the military, 37% were supportive, while 26% opposed and 36% were neutral.

Sixty-eight percent of those surveyed felt that a person’s gender is defined by their sex at birth, aligning with Trump’s views. Conversely, Democrats were more likely to say that gender isn’t solely determined at birth.

Recently, Trump’s approval ratings have seen an upward trend, according to the Decision Desk HQ polling tracker, which noted a net approval increase of 2.9 percentage points compared to his average rate on April 30th.

The AP-NORC poll included responses from 1,175 adults between May 1 and May 5, with a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
