Alabama Mother Charged with Murder in Toddler’s Death
A mother from Alabama has been charged with murder following the tragic death of her 2-year-old daughter, who reportedly suffocated after being left bound and face down on a bed for over 12 hours, according to law enforcement.
Meanwhile, the second person implicated in this case took his own life two days later.
Sierra Shea Hadaway, 22 years old, faces murder charges after her daughter, Madilyn Hadaway, was discovered dead on June 12, in Lanett, Alabama. The toddler was found in a face-down position, with her arms, legs, and ankles restrained for an extended period, as reported by the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office.
Christian Miles Starkey, the second suspect, passed away from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on June 14.
Authorities suspect that Madilyn died from asphyxiation, yet no further details have been provided at this time.
The nature of the relationship between Starkey and Madilyn is not yet clear.
Despite the toddler’s death occurring on June 12, the sheriff’s investigation only wrapped up recently, leading to Hadaway’s arrest, which was announced on Thursday.
Hadaway’s Facebook account, under the name Sierra Hill, features a heartfelt message for her daughter, including her dates of birth and death, alongside the phrase “But God.”
Madilyn’s obituary described her as a “precious angel,” noting, “Although her time with us was all too short, Madilyn filled our lives with immeasurable love, laughter, and happiness.” Her joyous spirit and bright smile touched everyone who knew her.
It further elaborated that Madilyn enjoyed playing with her dolls, gardening, and spending time freely with her friends.
Currently, Sierra Hadaway is being held at the Chambers County Detention Center without the option for bail.
