MS NOW apologizes for mistakenly reporting Patel was in Russia: 'We regret this mistake'

FBI Director’s Alleged Trip to Russia Denied

The FBI recently responded to erroneous claims made by MS NOW, which reported that FBI Director Kash Patel had traveled to Russia for a meeting on Tuesday. This claim, based on information from two “sources familiar with the matter,” was disputed by the bureau.

On its morning show “State of Play.”, MS NOW suggested that Patel was in Russia, which led to considerable confusion as the FBI clarified that he was actually in Lynchburg, Virginia, attending a law enforcement appreciation event at Liberty University.

Following this, the FBI’s Rapid Response team released a statement criticizing MS NOW for their inaccurate reporting.

“Left: MS Now reports two sources familiar say Kash Patel just landed in Russia. Right: Here’s where Kash Patel actually is. Liberty U, doing a law enforcement appreciation event. MS Now’s ‘sources’ are ‘familiar’ with NOTHING!”

Later, Ken Dilanian, a reporter from MS NOW, addressed the mistake live, expressing that the network strives to be “transparent” about its errors.

“We do know now that he [Patel] has not already landed in Russia, as we reported earlier,” Dilanian acknowledged. “We regret this error, and we are transparent about when we make errors.”

Patel also joined in the backlash, sharing his disappointment on X, where he criticized the network for their misinformation.

“MS NOW just reported I had ‘landed in Russia’ for meetings with the FSB. The same outlet constantly tells lies about this FBI and law enforcement’s historic achievements in safeguarding the American people,” he stated. “They owe an apology to this FBI, the men and women of law enforcement, and to the American people,” Patel emphasized.

Ben Williamson, an FBI Assistant Director, remarked on the oddity of the situation on X, noting how strange it was to see reports of the director in Russia at the same time he was receiving photos of him in Virginia.

“I have had many strange experiences in life, but in tier 1 had to be seeing a clip of MS Now reporting breaking news that Kash Patel has ‘just landed in Russia’ – right as I’m receiving pics of Kash Patel doing a law enforcement appreciation event today in Lynchburg, Virginia,” he tweeted.
