YouTube Star Miss Rachel Issues Apology After Controversial Like
YouTube personality Miss Rachel has shared an emotional apology video following an incident where she unknowingly liked an anti-Semitic comment on Instagram.
Rachel Griffin Accurso, known for her educational videos for children, boasts over 18.6 million YouTube subscribers, nearly 9 million followers on TikTok, and close to 5 million on Instagram.
The trouble started when Accurso appeared to like a post that said, “Free America from the Jews.” This caught the attention of a follower who subsequently reached out to her directly.
In a news conference, Accurso stated, “I will never agree with anti-Semitic comments like this one,” referring to an apology video she shared on TikTok.
She explained that the like was a mistake, noting that she had been attempting to delete another comment when the mishap happened. “I’m really sorry for the confusion I caused. I’m sorry if anyone thought I would agree to something so horrifyingly anti-Semitic,” she expressed, visibly emotional.
Accurso emphasized her stance against anti-Semitism, remarking that “I hate anti-Semitism,” and mentioned that it’s part of being human to make errors.
The comment had appeared under a post advocating for various global freedoms, including one that said, “Freedom for Palestine, Free for Sudan, Free for Congo, Free for Iran.”
While many supporters rallied behind her, others questioned why such comments were even present on her platform. This incident follows increased attention on her political views shared online.
She has been vocal about her support for children affected by the conflict in Gaza, even wearing a dress adorned with drawings from those children at Glamor magazine’s 2025 Woman of the Year Awards.
In December, she was selected to join New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani’s inaugural committee, and recently appeared in a video with him discussing new proposals for child care and public transport.
Accurso’s musical videos, aimed at facilitating language development in young kids, have garnered billions of views, catapulting her to international fame.
Last year, she was interviewed by journalist Mehdi Hassan, where she reiterated that advocating for children in Gaza does not diminish her concern for Israeli children or others. “It’s sad that when you advocate for children suffering immensely, it becomes controversial. I believe choosing silence should actually be the controversial stance,” she stated, defending her commitment to children’s welfare.
