Firebrand Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene lashed out at Speaker Mike Johnson, demanding he leave as he threatened to somehow lose the gavel.

Greene slammed a House aide’s plan to derail a plan that included $60.8 billion to protect Ukraine from Russia, after she and far-right Republican rebels thwarted the plan. This scandal earned her the nickname “Moscow Marjorie.”

Greene now has public support for her withdrawal motion from two other members of Congress, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.).

Greene previously criticized and opposed the effort by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Florida) to oust former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) last October.

She lashed out at Mr. Johnson (R-Louisiana), accusing him of “total betrayal” on a range of issues including Ukraine, border security and government spending.

“All of this was made possible because of Mike Johnson’s betrayal. He completely betrayed the Republican Party,” Greene fumed. “He completely betrayed Republican voters across the country.

“And he’s working as hard as he can for Democrats to pass the Biden administration’s agenda. This is the end of his speaking career for good.”

Most House Republicans oppose the Ukraine aid package, with 101 votes in favor and 112 against, but polls also show that a majority of Republicans in battleground districts support replenishing the aid. be.

Greene also hit back at her critics.

Greene declined to outline a specific timeline for when he would file his resignation motion. Mr Johnson has pushed back against calls for his resignation.

Adding to the looming possibility of an insurrection is the fact that a few Democrats are toying with the idea of ​​bailing him out, but most have not made firm commitments.
