Kennedy Jr. Declines 2028 Presidential Bid
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has officially announced he will not run for president in the 2028 election.
On Friday, he dismissed speculation about a potential candidacy, stating, “The swamp is in full panic mode. DC lobby shops are laboring fiercely to drive a wedge between President Trump and me, hoping to thwart our team from dismantling the status quo and advancing @POTUS Make America Healthy Again agenda.”
He further clarified, “Let me be clear: I am not running for president in 2028.” This statement seemed to address the pressure he’s facing from various political circles.
Kennedy Jr. emphasized his commitment to President Trump and their shared mission, mentioning a specific staff member, Stefanie Spear. He described her as a “fierce, loyal warrior” working hard in line with Trump’s vision. He asserted, “Their attacks on my staff…are proof we’re over the target. We’ll keep moving forward, delivering wins, and no smear campaign will stop us.”
He praised Trump for fulfilling promises that exceeded his expectations, such as ending wars and protecting free speech. He expressed confidence in their efforts to rebuild American industry and maintain transparency in science.
In concluding remarks, Kennedy Jr. reflected on his role, suggesting he is in his position to help resolve the chronic disease epidemic in the country.
Previously, Kennedy Jr. was a candidate in the 2024 presidential election but withdrew to endorse Trump, later taking on the role of HHS secretary.
Trump also highlighted Kennedy’s commitment during his confirmation, saying, “He really worked very hard, and he had tremendous support… He’s absolutely committed to getting dangerous chemicals out of our environment.”
Reflecting on his faith, Kennedy Jr. mentioned, “For 20 years, I’ve gotten up every morning on my knees and prayed that God would put me in a position where I could end the childhood chronic disease epidemic in this country.” He believes God led him to Trump for this purpose.
