Man wanted in fatal shooting following Bay Area high school graduation found in Texas

The individual linked to the tragic mass shooting that resulted in the death of an 18-year-old during a high school graduation in the Bay Area has been apprehended in Texas.

Fairfield Police, along with U.S. Marshals, arrested a 17-year-old male at a residence in the Dallas-Fort Worth vicinity. His name hasn’t been disclosed because he’s a minor.

This suspect is accused of fatally shooting Jamario Baker, who was still in his graduation gown at the time. The violent incident on June 3rd also left three others injured—ages 11, 20, and 25.

Authorities are moving forward with extradition plans to Solano County, where he is facing murder charges. Police reported that they put in considerable effort to identify this individual.

According to a statement from Fairfield police, “Investigators conducted numerous witness interviews, examined hours of surveillance footage, analyzed photographs and electronic records, executed search warrants, processed forensic evidence, and coordinated with multiple jurisdictions to build a case that could stand in court.”

The Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District expressed their gratitude, stating, “We appreciate the hard work of law enforcement.” They added, “Our hearts are with the student’s family, friends, classmates, and everyone whose lives were irrevocably altered by this incident. While this news may offer some solace, it doesn’t diminish the sorrow in our community.”

The shooting unfolded shortly after the graduation ceremony for Sem Yet High School at Fairfield High School’s Schaefer Stadium.

An eyewitness recalled that gunfire erupted in the parking lot as families were capturing memories post-ceremony.
