Nancy Sinatra Calls for Gun Abolition After Seattle Shooting Incident

Following an incident in Seattle that was initially reported as a mass shooting, singer and actress Nancy Sinatra has advocated for “all guns to be abolished.” Her comments stemmed from a post on X, which questioned the impact of gun legislation on such events.

Nancy responded to the discussion, noting that the assault weapons ban implemented during Bill Clinton’s presidency significantly reduced mass shooting deaths. She pointed out that after George W. Bush and the Republicans allowed that ban to lapse, those deaths surged to more than double the previous numbers, attributing this rise to the prevalence of guns.

In her reply, she stated: “Abolish guns. The Founding Fathers didn’t know about automatic weapons.”

Reports indicate that the incident at the Bite of Seattle food festival involved a shootout between at least two parties, resulting in three fatalities and four injuries. A 15-year-old boy has been detained in connection with this event. Additionally, NBC News mentioned that one of the suspects was also killed in the exchange, and the police are probing the possibility of a third suspect.

At the scene, several handguns were recovered, including so-called “ghost guns” and firearms modified with “Glock switches.” Witnesses reported a total of 14 shots fired during the altercation.

Everytown, a gun safety organization, noted that Washington state ranks 9th nationwide for its stringent gun laws, which encompass bans on certain types of firearms and regulations such as red flag laws and mandatory background checks. However, the incident highlighted that despite these laws, they were unable to prevent the violence.
