NASCAR driver belly-flops into massive flood on pit road as rain postpones race

Saturday’s NASCAR truck race was postponed due to severe rainstorms, but those on the track still made the most of it.

The storm passed through North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, site of Sunday’s All-Star Open and Saturday’s Craftsman Truck Series Light Brand 250.

Pole qualifying was canceled on Saturday morning, but the race started on time as positioning was set according to the rulebook. However, due to lightning in the area, a red flag was shown on lap 81 at approximately 2:30 pm ET.

NASCAR then announced at 5:05 p.m. ET that the remaining races would be postponed until Sunday at 11:30 a.m. ET, and the All-Star Open heat races scheduled for Saturday were cancelled. Race rankings will be determined based on the rulebook.

The rain caused severe flooding on pit road, with water reaching approximately thigh-deep for some people on the course.

Weather also affected Friday night’s race. The All-Star Race Qualifying and Pit Crew Challenge scheduled for Friday night at North Wilkesboro Speedway was postponed due to rain.

NASCAR announced that tickets for Saturday and Sunday will be accepted on Sunday with some conditions.

Saturday ticket holders will be offered “priority seating” at the finish line of the track race, and Sunday ticket holders will be offered seats for the All-Star race if they purchase the same seat.
