Israeli Strike on Iran’s Nuclear Facility Confirmed
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that a strike targeted one of Iran’s major nuclear facilities on Thursday night. He emphasized that Iran has obtained enough enriched uranium for nine atomic bombs, stating that in recent months, the country has taken unprecedented steps towards weaponizing this enriched uranium.
The Natanz Nuclear Facility, a critical site for Tehran, was reportedly attacked. Netanyahu mentioned that they targeted Iran’s core nuclear enrichment program, specifically focusing on the Natanz facility. He said, “We hit the heart of Iran’s nuclear weaponization program.” It’s worth noting that this facility had suffered damage in 2020 due to an explosion, and satellite imagery suggests that Iran has since been constructing extensive underground tunnels to protect its nuclear operations.
At this moment, it’s unclear if the underground structures were affected in the recent strike, but concerns remain high. Netanyahu expressed that allowing the world’s most dangerous regimes to acquire nuclear weapons is unacceptable, suggesting that Iran could pass these weapons to terrorist groups, an idea that is particularly alarming.
He warned that the escalation of Iran’s ballistic missile capabilities could pose a nuclear threat to Europe and even America. This is indeed a precarious situation, and the full extent of damage from the strike remains uncertain. Reports indicate that, aside from the nuclear facility, five other military bases around Tehran may have also been targeted.
While sources report on the incident, independent verification remains challenging. Some outlets have mentioned that a military complex known for nuclear weapons research was struck during the operation.
