Netanyahu’s Defiant Address at UN General Assembly
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a bold speech at the UN General Assembly on Friday, emphasizing that Israel needs to “finish the job” against Hamas and secure the release of all hostages from Gaza.
“The remnants of Hamas have left their mark on Gaza City,” he stated. “They’re determined to repeat the horrors of October 7th repeatedly.”
“Therefore, Israel must act decisively, and we aim to accomplish this as swiftly as possible,” he continued.
Netanyahu also called for a total defeat of Iran, highlighting the threats from its proxy forces in Iraq, Syria, and Yemen.
Referencing a significant military operation from September 2024, he reminisced, “Remember those Beepers?” He explained how explosives were placed in a pager used by Hezbollah operatives.
“We sent a message to Hezbollah, and trust me, they understood it. Thousands of militants went down,” he declared.
At 75, Netanyahu remained steadfast in opposing the recognition of a Palestinian state, which was a topic discussed by U.S. allies ahead of the assembly.
“From October 7th onward, we will not give away land right next to Jerusalem,” he argued. “This is sheer madness. We won’t sacrifice our people due to a lack of courage in the face of hostile media and anti-Semitic groups demanding blood.”
His speech included critiques of Iranian influence and the necessity to dismantle its network of proxies, suggesting a brighter future for the Middle East filled with “prosperity” and “peace.”
Netanyahu accused Palestinian representatives of spreading messages globally that encourage violence against Jews, noting this reached leaders like the British Prime Minister and the French President.
“Israel is wrongfully blamed for starving the people of Gaza when, in fact, we have been providing them with aid,” he asserted. “Since the conflict began, we’ve sent over 2 million tonnes of food and supplies to Gaza.”
“That’s a significant amount of aid for every man, woman, and child there—roughly 3,000 calories per person each day,” he added. “What kind of starvation is this?”
The Prime Minister conveyed messages of hope to the hostages, using speakers to broadcast parts of his speech into Gaza.
“This is Prime Minister Netanyahu speaking to you from the United Nations,” he reassured them. “We have not forgotten you. Not even for a moment. The people of Israel stand with you. We won’t waver and won’t rest until you come home.”
He also sent messages to Palestinian civilians through their mobile devices.
“To the leaders of Hamas and those holding our hostages, I now say, ‘Lay down your arms, and let my people go,'” he quoted Moses.
“All 48 hostages must be released,” he insisted. “Do this, and you will survive; otherwise, Israel will take action.”
