JERUSALEM, ISRAEL — Israeli Prime Minister Javier Milei welcomed Argentine President Javier Milei to Israel on Wednesday, praising the president’s commitment to free markets and solidarity with Israel against the terrorist threat posed by Iran.
Upon his arrival on Tuesday, Milley immediately announced that Argentina would move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. He then prayed at the Western Wall, Judaism’s holiest site, met with Israeli President Isaac Herzog in a ceremony, and on Wednesday visited Yad Vashem, Israel’s Holocaust memorial. He began a busy schedule that included:
The Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement:

Hamas is a terrorist organization and unwavering supporter of Israel’s right to defend itself.
They also agreed to establish joint business delegations in various areas.
Prime Minister Netanyahu said this at the beginning of the meeting.
“I am delighted to welcome President Milais and his delegation to Israel. You are great friends of the Jewish state. We recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, relocate our diplomatic posts there and, of course, I am happy about your decision to move the museum as well.
“We’re talking about free markets right now. This is something we both support, and you’ve been leading this in Argentina. We’ve been leading this in Israel. Together. You can do a lot more.
“We share a desire for prosperity, security and peace. We know that the greatest challenge to peace, not only in our region but in yours as well, is Iran. Thank you for your cooperation in security and diplomacy.
“We are deeply grateful for your passionate support for Israel in so many ways.
“Welcome to Jerusalem. Welcome, my friend.”
Netanyahu, who helped liberalize Israel’s economy as finance minister, shares many of Milley’s views on free markets. Milley has also been a strong supporter of Israel in its war with Hamas and in the face of continued threats from the Iranian regime.
Iran is believed to have been behind the 1994 bombing of the Argentine-Israel Mutual Association (AMIA), a Jewish community organization in Buenos Aires, which at the time (before 9/11) was the worst in the Western Hemisphere. It was a solo terrorist attack that resulted in 100 deaths.
