Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s “right-wing extremist and racist government” has caused a humanitarian disaster in Gaza. He said there was.
“Anti-Semitism is a vile, abhorrent ideology that has led to the deaths of millions of people over the past 100 years. We must oppose it in all its forms,” Sanders said. “Of course, within the United States. Do I have any doubt that there is a growing anti-Semitism among some of the people participating in the protests?
He added: “This is the reality right now, and what Netanyahu’s right-wing extremist and racist government is doing is unprecedented in the history of modern warfare. In the past six and a half months, 33,000 Palestinians People were killed, 77,000 injured, a third of them women and children, and more than 60% of homes were destroyed. They destroyed the health system, destroyed infrastructure and lost most of the electricity. And now we’re looking at the possibility of mass starvation and famine in Gaza. When you make accusations like that, that’s not real anti-Semitism. Our job is to condemn Hamas, the terrorist organization that started this war, and to condemn all forms of anti-Semitism, Islamophobia and other bigotry. We must pay attention to this tragic humanitarian disaster.”
Sanders added: “They are completely destroying Gaza right now. God only knows what will happen in the future.”
